Odisha: Fire Services Dept Conducting Fire Safety Inspection & Awareness Drive at Coaching Centres across State

Odisha: Fire Services Dept Conducting Raids at Coaching Centres across State to Check Safety Measures

Bhubaneswar: In the wake of nationwide outcry over the coaching centre fire mishap in Surat that killed at least 23 students, the Odisha Fire Services Department is conducting fire safety inspection and awareness drive at coaching centres across the State.

After conducting inspection at several coaching centres in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the Department is now carrying out similar exercises in Jeypore, Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Angul and Bhadrak districts to spread awareness on fire safety arrangements.

Earlier, Special Secretary to Home Department, SK Mishra has asked Director General of Fire Services, BK Sharma  to carry out inspection of all coaching centres including private ones in major towns of the State including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

As many as 49 teams are inspecting centres in Jeypore, Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Angul and Bhadrak, informed Sharma.
