Puri: Power supply has been restored to Puri Srimandir and the Bada Danda (Grand Road) today, 12 days after the devastating cyclone Fani caused a trail of destruction in the pilgrim city.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed extremely satisfaction for the restoration of electricity supply to the historic shrine.
The CM, who visited the district to review the relief and restoration work, thanked thousands of workers who are working day and night to ensure electricity supply to Puri, which bore the maximum brunt of the rare summer cyclone which made a landfall in Odisha on May 3.
Power has also been supplied to Balighata grid in Puri, while Sriramnagar sub-station also received power supply this morning, sources said.

The entire power infrastructure in Puri district has been devastated in the cyclone which damaged 75 towers of 220 KV and 25 towers of 132 KV.
The power restoration work is in full swing in Puri district, said by the Executive Engineer of Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) officials of Puri Electrical Division.
