Aahaar Centres Reopen in Bhubaneswar after Cyclone Fani

Bhubaneswar: The Aahaar centres in Bhubaneswar reopened today after remaining closed since the cyclone Fani hit the State on May 3.

As per reports, all the 11 Aahaar centres in the capital city have been reopened today.

The centres remained closed as the major kitchen of the Akshaya Patra Foundation that supplies cooked food to these centres, suffered damages in the natural disaster.

Under the Aahaar programme, the Odisha Government provides hygienic meals to the people at the cost of Rs 5 per meal. The welfare programme is in operation since April 2015.

The State Government runs 115 Aahaar centres covering 77 urban local bodies in 30 districts across the state.

In Bhubaneswar, more than 8,000 meals are served to the people during the daytime through the Aahaar centres.
