Micro ATMs by Axis Bank to Dispense Cash in City

Bhubaneswar: Good news for citizens who are facing a herculean task in getting cash as many ATM machines are not supporting to enough customers due to link failure and the customers are often dejected due to long queues and at times, failure to get money after a long and tiring wait. This has become a major issue across the state capital after severe cyclonic storm Fani hit the city on May 3.

Axis Bank has come with an innovative idea of micro ATMs to help citizens get cash of Rs 2,000 in a single transaction. A person can draw the amount at one transaction and might have more after one transaction, if needed.

The micro ATM service will be available by the bank at important public places like railway station, hospitals, market places etc.

A senior bank official said to help the citizens under the limits of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the civic body’s progress through partnership initiative, the bank will extend the service and initially four micro ATMs will be engaged to serve the people. Later more micro ATMs will be brought to the city to provide the micro ATM service to more people till the restoration of the usual ATM machines is in place.

Micro ATM is a device through which a customer can get cash after swiping his/her ATM card and the cash will be given by a bank staff once the swipe is approved by the system.

It can be mentioned here that Axis Bank has partnered with BMC in many city-based monetary projects and currently the various social security pension schemes amounting to nearly 22,000 beneficiaries are getting their monthly pensions through Axis Bank.
