Central Team Visits Cuttack to Assess Damage Due to Fani

Cuttack: The five-member central team today visited affected areas in Cuttack district and reviewed the situation on the second day of assessment of damage caused by cyclone ‘Fani'.

The team led by senior officer of PMO Vivek Bharadwaj carried out inspection at different areas under Kantapada and Niali block in Cuttack district.

The locals accompanied them to the affected crop land and villages where houses were destroyed in the cyclonic storm. The team also discussed with the local residents to prepare a report accordingly.

The affected people apprised the team of their problems and basic needs like drinking water, shelter, and food.

People showed the members of the central team their damaged houses, crops and told them about lack of water and electricity in their areas.

The team is also scheduled to visit Kaktpur, Astarang, Pipili, Nimapara area of Puri today.

Yesterday, the team divided into two parts assessed damage in the worst affected areas of Puri where the cyclone Fani had made landfall.

The team reached Bhubaneswar yesterday night and will be visiting Puri and Khurda districts today. The team was divided into two groups each group visiting the worst affected districts of Puri and Khurda.
