Bhubaneswar: Hockey India has confirmed that the FIH Series Finals will be held in the cyclone-hit Odisha capital between June 6 - 15 as per the schedule.
The Kalinga Stadium will host the matches as per the previously decided schedule, said Hockey India.
The upcoming FIH Series Finals scheduled to be played between June 6-15 will be hosted at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar as the stadium remains unperturbed by Cyclone Fani, said Hockey India.
Vishal Dev, Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department said, “Our team took stock of the situation at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium which has suffered minor damages that can be repaired by the end of May”.
The Department is working relentlessly to restore the stadium operations, he added.
The Kalinga Stadium hosted major sporting events, such as the 2014 Champions Trophy, 2017 Hockey World League Final and the Men’s Hockey World Cup in November-December last year.
The finalists in the FIH Series Finals will secure a place in the qualification events for Tokyo that will be held in November.
India are in Pool A with Poland, Russia and Uzbekistan while Pool B has South Africa, Japan, Mexico and US.
India will play against Russia on June 6.
