Bhubaneswar: The election to the Patkura assembly seat under the Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency is likely to be postponed after the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla on Saturday, sources said.
Agarwalla, a two-time MLA from Patkura constituency, was contesting from the seat against Congress’ Jayant Mohanty and BJP’s Bijoy Mohapatra.
As per the Election Commission’s schedule, Kendrapara Lok Sabha constituency will go to polls along with its seven assembly segments in the fourth phase of Odisha polls on April 29.
Patkura is one of the seven assembly constituencies under the Lok Sabha seat.
The death of BJD MLA candidate has put doubts regarding the conduct of election to this seat.
However, the Election Commission is yet to take a decision in this regard.
