New Delhi: The Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an ally of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, today announced that it will contest the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on its own.
SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar said that the party will field candidates from 25 seats in Uttar Pradesh and names of the candidates will be announced soon.
Notably, the SBSP had won four seats in the 2017 UP assembly elections. It contested for eight seats.
As per media reports, the BJP was willing to give just one seat to SBSP and too on the condition that the candidate will contest the elections on the BJP symbol.
The proposal was rejected by SBSP chief, who had reportedly earlier held talks with central leadership for five seats in UP that sends 80 MPs to Lok Sabha.
