Bhubaneswar: The biggest Jumla of this political season is out. Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan has said that if the BJP comes to power in Odisha, his government will provide ration at Re 1 that will include five kgs of rice, 500 grams dal and 500 grams salt. This has come just days after the first phase polls are over and the BJP seems to be desperately losing ground.
The Bharatiya Janata Party manifesto for Odisha had no mention of the freebees Dharmendra is promising. So, how far he will fulfill them is a big question. This also raises the question that why Dharmendra made such an assurance when the first phase polls are over, asked the Biju Janata Dal. According to the BJD, it is nothing but another Jumla of Dharmendra.
BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra has said that Dharmendra is known as a habitual liar. The disappointing condition of the BJP in Odisha has made him desperate. Today’s promises are an example of his false promises. The BJP says it rules 22 states in India. But none of these state governments have given such incentives to the poor. In Gujarat, the BJP was in power for 20 years and in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh it ruled for 15 years. So, why did not they implement the one rupee ration scheme there, asked the BJD spokesperson.
The BJP had promised 2 crore jobs, 15 lakh rupees in every Indian’s account, special category state for Odisha and many more false promises. Today’s promise is also like the previous ones. The people of Odisha will give the party a befitting answer to this, said Sasmit.
