Bhubaneswar: BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will contest from two assembly constituencies in the upcoming elections.
Apart from his traditional Hinjili assembly constituency in home district Ganjam, the BJD supremo will also be contesting from Bijepur assembly constituency in Bargarh district.
In a first in the 22 years of his political journey, Naveen will be contesting from two assembly constituencies in assembly poll.
He has chosen to contest from Bijepur after a number of leaders from western Odisha requested him to contest from any one of the constituencies of the region.
Sunday, Naveen had hinted that he is considering seriously to the requests to contest from western Odisha.
The ruling BJD today announced the names of its party candidates for nine Lok Sabha and 54 assembly constituencies.
The LS candidates include Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Kousalya Hikaka, Achyuta Samanta, Puspendra Singh Deo and Kalikesh Singh Deo.
