Transgender Leader Meera Parida Joins BJD

Bhubaneswar: Inspired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's leadership and his government’s development works, renowned transgender leader and social activist Meera Parida  joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal here today.

Parida,  the chairman of All Odisha Third Gender Welfare Trust, formally joined the BJD in the presence of party supremo Naveen Patnaik.

She is also the president of All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangha and runs an NGO  ‘SAKHA’ that works to protect the rights of third genders.

Parida, who hails from Gadatara village under Begunia block in Khurda district, arrived at the Naveen Niwas with her supporters and took primary membership of the ruling party.

Talking to media persons, Meera said she has informed the Chief Minister about her willingness to contest from Begunia constituency in Khurda district.
