Odisha Elections 2019: Hundreds of BJP Workers from Sambalpur’s Rengali Block Join BJD

Rengali  (Sambalpur): In a major setback to BJP in the Western Odisha in the run-up to the ensuing elections, hundreds of its party workers and leaders in Rengali block of politically sensitive Sambalpur district switched to the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday.

More than 320 active BJP workers and grassroots leaders including mandal presidents from eight panchayats took the primary membership of the BJD at the mishrana parva (joining ceremony) held at Marwari Harihara Dharmasla here.

Former MP and BJD’s Sambalpur District observer Rabi Pani and former Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kishrore Das welcomed the new members and  highlighted the development works carried out by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Meanwhile, the exodus of large number of workers has further worsened the BJP’s organizational strengthen in Western Odisha.
