BJP Govt Wants to Suppress Voice of Youth, Alleges Priyanka Gandhi after Meeting Meeting Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad

New Delhi: Launching a tirade against the BJP governments at the Centre and Uttar Pradesh after meeting Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad at a Meerut hospital on Wednesday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the BJP government wants to suppress the voice of the youth.

Accompanied by senior Congress leaders including Jyotiraditya Scindia, who has been mandated to oversee the party’s affairs in western UP and the Congress’s UP unit president Raj Babbar, Priyanka Gandhi met Azad, a day after he was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

The Dalit leader was taken into custody on Tuesday along with his supporters for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by using more than stipulated number of motorcycles in a political rally.

Priyanka Gandhi had ruled out any political connotation to her visit to Azad, who was taken ill soon after being detained, following which he was admitted to Anand Hospital in Meerut.

"Yeh ahankaari sarkaar hai. The government wants to suppress the voice of the youth," she told the media.

“It does not want to listen to the youth. It could not provide jobs, and when the youth decided to raise their voice, it decided to crush them,” she added.

Earlier, the Congress leader urged people to consider the Lok Sabha polls as “another independence struggle” and told them to raise the real issues facing them instead of getting drawn into trivialities.
