Odisha Introduces State Film Policy-2019

* Subsidy up to Rs 2.5 crore to filmmakers of English, Hindi or other language movies that promote Odisha and its culture, heritage and tourist destinations 

* Concession to filmmakers on their stay during shooting in Odisha

* Assistance of Rs 10 crore to the first three big budget Hindi or international language film that promote Odisha

* Kalinga Studio to be developed with world-class infrastructure

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has promulgated the ‘Odisha State Film Policy-2019’ with an aim to promote Odia films and create conducive eco-system for production of films in the State.

The Policy approved at the Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday seeks to establish Odisha as a destination of film shooting and improve screen density in the State.

The Policy will promote quality Odia movies and facilitate film tourism in Odisha. It has been formulated in consultation with stakeholders including film industry associations, experts from the fraternity, government departments and agencies.

The Odisha Government has decided to provide a subsidy up to Rs 2.5 crore to filmmakers of English/ Hindi/ other language films that promote Odisha, its culture, heritage and tourist destinations.

 The Policy also provides an assistance of Rs 10 crore to the first three big budget Hindi or International language films, having a minimum budget of Rs 50 crore, which promote Odisha, its culture, heritage, tourist destination and others. 

It also provides concession to filmmakers on their stay during shooting in Odisha.

The Policy also emphases on the development of film cities, cinema halls and multiplex in the State through appropriate incentives.

Apart from it, the Policy also aims to develop Bhubaneswar-based Kalinga Studio with world-class infrastructure.

In order to ensure the ease of filming and facilitate the development of related institutions, the Policy proposes to implement a single window approval process for shooting of films in Odisha.

As per the decision, all proposals for film cities multiplexes and cinema halls will be facilitated through the government of Odisha- Single window for Investor Facilitation and Tracking (GO-SWIFT).
