Maoist Camp Busted Near Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border

Nuapada: A Maoist camp was busted in the dense forests of Nuapada’s Sunabeda Sanctuary on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border by security forces on Tuesday.

The Jawans of Central Reserve Police Force destroyed the Maoist camp and recovered two rifles, two grenades, 12 gelatin sticks and 25 detonators, sources said.

The Jawans of the 216 CRPF Battalion were on a routine combing operation when they found the camp inside the thick forests under Jonk Police station limits.

The CRPF personnel also recovered about five quintals of explosives from the camp. However, the red rebels succeeded in escaping the camp before the forces came.

In view of the ensuing assembly and general elections, Nuapada SP Smith P Parmar called for intensifying counter offensive in the inaccessible areas.

The CRPF, along with the SOG, is now undertaking combing operations in the area.
