Bhubaneswar: The people of Koraput District today thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for taking initiatives to join the cut-off areas to the mainland through improvement of road connectivity.
A large of number of farmers and social workers today met the Chief Minister at his residence to express their heartiest gratitude for the State Government’s recent announcement to construct three major bridges in this tribal-dominated district.
During his visit to Koraput on 5 February, the Odisha CM announced that the bridges will be constructed at Girilguma-Duarsuni road on Muran river, Nandapur-Lamatapur-Banamaliput road and on Koraput-Suku road near Kolab river.
Hailing the Chief Minister’s initiatives, Koraput District BJD President Iswar Chandra Panigrahi who led the peoples’ delegation along with local MP Jinha Hikaka said that the construction of bridges will join a number of cut-off areas to the mainland.
Notably, since the commencement of Upper Kolkab and Indravati Reservoirs, a number of panchayats in Koraput and Lamtaput were cut-off from the mainland for the past 40 years.
The Chief Minister's vision and decision to construct bridges in these region would address the connectivity issues of the people, Panigrahi said.
The Koraput people also thanked the CM for other development works for the District.
