BJD Dubs BJP’s Pratisruti Samabesh as Betrayal of People in Odisha

BJD Dubs BJP’s Pratisruti Samabesh as Betrayal of People in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Sunday termed the BJP’s much-hyped Pratisruti Samabesh a betrayal of people in the State.

Launching a veiled attack on the BJP, the BJD said that the saffron party has now truly transformed from the Bharatiya Janata Party to Bharatiya Jumla Party by deceiving the people with false promises.

Hitting out at the BJP’s ‘Pratisruti Patra’, in which the Odisha unit of the saffron party made several promises like shelter for homeless, records of rights for landless and employment for youth, the BJD said that it is completely misleading and a betrayal of the people of Odisha.

The BJP-led Central government has ignored Odisha on several fronts since 2014. It has always misled the people of Odisha on various issues. The saffron party should fulfill its old promises made for the State, instead of making fresh commitments, the BJD said.

Senior BJP leader and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday tried to lure the voters in Odisha promising a host of welfare measures including permanent land patta, concrete house to the poor and jobs to the youth at the party’s ‘Pratisruti Samabesh’.

Terming the BJP’s Pratisruti Samabesh was meant to deceive the people, the BJD said that it is only an irony that the saffron outfit had made same promises during the 2014 elections, which were completely ignored.

The BJP leaders have time and again betrayed the people of Odisha with their false promises, the Odisha’s ruling party said in a statement.

The BJP’s promises like special category status for Odisha, two crore jobs every year and Rs 15 lakh in each bank account were never fulfilled, the BJD said.

Similarly, the Mahanadi, Polavaram issues and coastal highway project has been neglected. There is a cost cutting in 33 projects and eight programmes have been completely stopped.

Despite the Centre’s apathetic attitude towards Odisha, it was Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s vision and commitment due to which more than 20 lakh houses were constructed in the last five years in the State.

As many as 1.20 lakh beneficiaries have been allotted land under the Odisha Government’s 'Basundhara' scheme, the BJD said while adding that in the urban areas under 'Jaga' scheme 30,000 'Pattas' have been distributed.
