Bhubaneswar: Odisha has got its first women’s shelter home at Chandrasekharpur on Thursday. To provide immediate shelter, food, clothing, and care to the women in crisis, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared the Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH).
The 100-bedded shelter home has all facilities for the homeless women.
Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena inaugurated the all-women shelter home at the Capital City Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion Jena said, “The shelter home has space for more than 50 women inmates and in the coming days we will try to make space to accommodate more women”.
The shelter home is entirely dedicated for women in need. Many women who are forced to stay alone at railway station, bus stand, and foot path now can be accommodated in this shelter home.
There will be women coordinators and security personnel to ensure security and safety of the inmates, Jena added.
The shelter is just like a boon for the urban homeless women in the city. The effort of the State Government is highly appreciated by the newly-accommodated inmates in the shelter home.
