Odisha CM Congratulates Shaktikanta Das on Appointment as Governor of RBI

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today congratulated Shaktikanta Das on appointment as Governor of Reserve Bank of India.

Das, a former bureaucrat, has replaced Urjit Patel, who stepped down after a fractious faceoff with the government, underlining the deepening trust deficit between the RBI and the central government.

Das will be the first from Odisha to occupy this position, the CM tweeted.

Previously, Das served as former secretary of Department of Economic Affairs from 2015 to 2017.
